Supporting First Responders

Public Safety

Our law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical personnel put their lives on the line every day to keep our communities safe. They deserve our full support, and I have worked to ensure they have the resources, recognition, and legal protections they need.

I have supported legislation creating a first responder recognition program to honor the service and sacrifice of those who protect us. I am also a sponsor of the Fallen First Responder Survivor Advocate bill, which would provide dedicated support and advocacy for the families of first responders who are killed in the line of duty. When a first responder makes the ultimate sacrifice, their family should never have to navigate the aftermath alone.

Fallen First Responder Survivor Advocate

H. 3196Introduced

Fentanyl Trafficking

Fentanyl is a poison that is destroying families and communities across South Carolina and the nation. I have supported legislation to impose the toughest possible penalties on those who traffic this deadly drug into our communities.

The fentanyl trafficking bill I support treats large-scale fentanyl distribution as the deadly crime it is, with enhanced penalties that reflect the devastating impact this drug has on our families and neighborhoods. We must send a clear message that if you bring fentanyl into South Carolina, you will face severe consequences.

Bond Reform

Too many violent criminals are being released back onto our streets on low or no bond, only to commit more crimes. I have supported bond reform legislation that would keep dangerous offenders behind bars while awaiting trial, protecting our communities from repeat violent offenders.

Our justice system must prioritize the safety of law-abiding citizens over the convenience of those accused of violent crimes.

Fighting Sextortion

The rise of sextortion, where predators use intimate images to blackmail and exploit victims, particularly young people, is a growing threat. I have supported legislation to create strong criminal penalties for sextortion in South Carolina, protecting our children and families from this heinous crime.
